Change Team:

Hi Team.

Here are my game reports from this weekend.

On Saturday we played really well against Darien and in the end won the game 1-0. We defended very well and scored a great goal.

On Sunday the girls tried their best against Newtown in the playoff final. We ended up losing 2-0.

I would like to thank all of you for your support for the team throughout the season.  Jeanne and Evelyn thank you so much for all your help.

I had a great time getting to know the girls and coaching them. We have been together just over 10 weeks. The girls were a joy to coach and I look forward to working with them in the Spring.

We got to the Semi final of the CT Cup and lost to a very good team in Newington who ended up winning it. Newtown only lost one game all season and that was the one they lost to us. A successful season in my opinion.

Last but not least,

Thank you so much for the gifts and the card that the girls signed. I really appreciate the generosity.

Yours in Sport

Thomas

Hi Team:

Here are my game reports from this past weekend.

Saturday 11/2. Lilly field. 10.45 kick off.     Result /Wilton 2007 Blue 6 New Cannan 0.

Saturdays game was fun to watch. We were clearly the much stronger team and could have won by double figures. We were mindful of showing sportsmanship. I got the chance to see the girls play in different positions and bring them out of their comfort zone. All in all it was fun and I think they enjoyed it.

Sunday 11/3. Darien High School. 12.00pm kick/off.  Result /Wilton 1 Darien 4.

This was totally the opposite of Saturday. We allowed Darien three goals that were in my opinion soft. This gave us a mountain to climb. It was unlike us to concede  these type of goals. We will work in practice at being difficult to score on and then our attacking players to show what they can do. The great thing about soccer is you get the chance to put things right and I am hoping to have a different outcome on Saturday when we again play Darien in the semi finals of the playoffs.

Hi Team,

Here is my game report from Saturday 10/26/2019 CT Cup game v Newington at Lilly Field 10.00am Result 4-1 loss

I knew coming into the game that we were up against it. I had contacted a coach I know who played against them the week before. He told me how strong they are and the players to watch, several of them play for CFC Premier. Newington came out strong and we struggled for the first 20 minutes, they created numerous chances and scored 1 goal. We started to improve and created some chances ourselves.

With ten minutes remaining in the first half we had a great chance to tie it up, Who knows if that goes in Maybe it is a different game. Newington then went and score two more goals to make it 3-0 at the interval. I spoke to the girls at halftime and asked them not to play so deep and to not jump when tackling, they were much better in the second half and tried their best to get back in the game.

All in all Newington are a formidable team and I wish them all the best in the final.

We still have a league title to play for.

Hi Team,

Here is my game report from Sunday 9/22 V Darien. Lilly Field. Result 2-0 win

It was a great win, Darien had won their first three games. We started great and scored two beautiful goals to lead at half-time. I told the girls at the interval that Darien would up their game in the second half which they did. The team defended brillantly and twarted everything Darien threw at us. While they passed the ball better than us I think we showed great character and desire to win the game.

It was nice to get our practice schedule back to Wednesday and Friday which helped us prepare for this game. This weekend starts our CT Cup journey, for the second year in a row I head to Simsbury for our first game and I hope to get he same result as last Fall.

See you tomorrow.

Hi Team:

Here is my game report from the past weekend.

Wilton girls 2007 Blue v Easton Redding. Result 2-0 loss. 1.45pm kick/off at Kristine Lilly Field.

I thought the girls gave a lot of effort on Sunday. We certainly had a lot of the ball in the opposition's half. We were not as creative in front of goal as we were in the tournament the weekend before. To their credit , Easton took advantage of the chances they had and in the end might have shaded it. I feel we can be better in possession and combine a little more with each other.

See you all Wednesday.

This week in practice:

Core Value week 3: Tenacity

U13-U14 - Passing to Penetrate & Switching: Goal - to improve awareness and decision making of opportunities to play forward and technique with types of passes and weighting to break lines. Also awareness and opportunities to switch play when can't play forward.

Hi Team:

Thank you for coming out to cheer on the girls in the tournament. It was great to see the girls play together for the first time.

I was delighted with effort they gave. We ended up winning the tournament which was great. We played better as the day went on and the only dissappointment was the Ridgefield result. Over all it was positive and I am excited as to what this group can achieve going forward. I will hand out the medals tonight at practice and hopefully get a photo of the whole team wearing them.

This week in practice:

Core Value week 2Advice

U13-U14 - Playing in tight spaces: Goal - to improve control and decisions when playing in tighter areas under pressure, this includes speed of play on the ball, improving awareness and decisions to move and support, and improve maintaining the ball as an individual through shielding or creativity to get out of tight spaces.
