Overview of the Wilton Soccer Association Programs

Below is an overview of the programs offered by the Wilton Soccer Association (WSA). More information can be found under the specific program tabs.

Intramural Program

This program introduces the children of Wilton to the world's most popular sport. Offering clinics for Pre-K children as well as programs for kindergarten, first and second grade players (K-2), our Intramural soccer program is an all-inclusive and developmentally appropriate soccer experience. With the largest number of participants (over 450 players each season), we regard this as the foundation for our overall town soccer program.

The WSA offers this program under the direction and guidance of Mickey Kydes Soccer (MKS). MKS has over 25 years of experience working with children ages 3 to 20 years old. MKS develops the curriculum and provides professional coaches who train our players in clinic style sessions one day per week. The fundamental basis for MKS Intramural training is for players to have fun, problem solve, develop basic soccer and life skills in a structured environment. This program is offered in the fall and spring.

Team Warrior Program

This program is one of two programs we offer to provide continued soccer development for players in 3rd grade and above (our Travel program is the other). This program balances enjoyment of the game with continued soccer development. It serves players who are seeking a soccer experience with less commitment than our Travel program.
The WSA offers this program under the direction and guidance of Soccer Extreme (SE). SE develops the curriculum and provides the professional coaches who train our players twice per week and manage the games which are once per weekend. Older age groups may participate in the CJSA Rec Plus league, which provides games against neighboring towns in accordance with CJSA sanctioned guidelines. This program is offered in two separate fall and spring.

Travel Program

Our Travel program represents the highest level of soccer offered by the WSA. Teams are formed by tryouts and compete in the CJSA Southwest District travel league. Participation in the WSA Travel program requires a significant commitment on the part of the player and parents.
The WSA offers this program under the direction and guidance of Soccer Extreme (SE), and utilizes a professional-only coaching model that for two practices a week,  Sunday games, participation in tournaments including the State CT Cup. We offer this program as an annual program, which includes a commitment to fall & spring seasons.

Premier Program

CT Rush is premier program which is offered in partnership with the Wilton Soccer Association. CT Rush Soccer is affiliated with Rush Soccer which is the largest premier soccer club in the US. CT Rush has one team per age group and offers year round premier training and targets both the serious soccer player and the multi-sport athlete.

TOPSoccer Program

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community based soccer program that provides meaningful learning, development, and physical participation opportunities for young athletes with disabilities. The program is designed to meet the needs of children aged 5-18 years with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.

TOPSoccer began in 1991 and was designed and is now administered by US Youth Soccer, the nation’s largest youth sports organization. This program fosters the physical and emotional growth and development of America’s youth through the sport of soccer at all levels. It takes kids from the sidelines and gets them into the game.
This program came to Wilton in 2010 thanks to the efforts and dedication of two brothers and former WSA players – Kyle & Sean Dedrick. We offer this program in fall and spring.
